Schools and Nurseries
Schools and Nurseries: Conversation Piece provides language teachers to a number of schools and nurseries, who run language clubs as morning or afternoon activities. Assignments tend to run for the duration of a term or academic year.
NURSERY ACTIVITIES Many nurseries offer language learning activities to children as young as 6 months old. The children are organised into small groups of a similar age and discover the chosen language through songs, rhymes, games, role play and the use of visual aids such as flash cards as well as manual activities.Tutors usually go to the nursery for an hour or more and teach the groups of children in 15 to 30 minute sessions, depending on their age.The lessons centre on everyday themes: family, pets, food, toys, etc.
AFTER-SCHOOL ACTIVITIES Many Primary schools are becoming aware of the need to start foreign language learning at an early stage. With the shortage of qualified and experienced language specialists, many have employed the services of Conversation Piece in setting up language classes as part of an extra curricular activities program. Most classes have a maximum of 10 students and take place once a week in the afternoon.A simple syllabus of everyday themes is adapted to the children’s age.
